On August 14th 2014 my wife and I attending the Hollyshorts Film Festival Opening Night!  The event takes place on Hollywood Boulevard at the famous TCL Chinese Theatre.  It was very exciting.  The short film I scored last year titled “The Bath” directed by Mark Lundsten was indeed an official selection at the festival.

“The Bath” won best narrative short at the 2013 Ojai Film Festival and so we were pretty excited by the idea that we could take back something home at Hollyshorts.  But the competition was hard this year and there were so much great films.  Unfortunately we didn’t win anything this year.  But still, what an exciting event!

“The Bath” was inspired by a poem about the Alzheimer disease.  A tribute to those who have to take care and see people that they care about slowly forget entirely who they are and who are the people who loves them.

Hollyshorts is one of the top film festival for short film, a great avenue for discovering new talents.  There were a lot of talented filmmaker and one of greatest pleasure was to see that very dear friends of mine from Seattle were sponsors of the festival this year!  Ben Andrews from Evil Slave Productions was hosting a panel, sponsoring the event as well as a special screening of all of this year’s best short film from the Pacific Northwest, and “The Bath” was a part of it.  Most notable films in my opinion were “Shift Paradigm” directed by Ben Andrews himself, that was in all aspects definitely one of the best film I’ve seen coming out of Seattle.  And the Harvey Brother’s “The Arborlight” which was definitely notable.

Lots of friends to see in person, on screen and in the credits!  A wonderful event for which I thank Daniel Sol and Theo Dumont for putting it together every year as well as organizing various seminars and workshops all year long.

See you next year!

This year, I had the pleasure to attend the 2014 San Diego International Comic Con with the entire “Nobility” cast & crew!  It was so much fun!  With more than 500 people attending our panel and #Nobility becoming a Twitter trend for a few hours, we were all super excited.

I had attended some of the shooting days on set and therefore had the opportunity to meet in person most of our wonderful cast prior to the event.  But I still had some surprises when Christopher Judge showed up in person at the Panel!  As a former avid viewer of “Stargate: SG-1” and “Stargate: Atlantis” it was quite something to meet the legendary “Teal’c” in person.  But even more, the opportunity to collaborate with him on “Nobility.”

Created by EJ de La Pena (Jingle All The Way), Nobility’s cast is composed of Darren Jacobs (Starship: Rising), Torri Higginson (Stargate: Atlantis), James Kyson (Heroes), Cas Anvar (Assassin’s Creed), Adrienne Wilkinson (Xena: Princess Warrior), Walter Koenig (Star Trek), Doug Jones (Falling Skies), Ellen Dubin (Napoleon Dynamite), Miracle Laurie (Doll House) and as said before, Christopher Judge! (Stargate: SG-1).

We presented at our panel the first trailer made out of the 60 min worth of content that were shot through out June and July.  Each of the character are so strong and interact so well with each other, they are inspiring a music theme for each of them.  Along the trailer was also presented the final version of the Nobility Music Theme!  It was great to hear it blasted out loud via the giant speakers in the conference room 🙂

You can watch the full panel on the video below (I make it start at the Trailer presentation):

We also had our own booth were we held some signing event and we ended up signing hundreds of posters!  There is great enthusiasm from the fans regarding Nobility and this is really what has been getting that show together so far.  So thank you to all of you who are showing your love toward the show, it means a great deal to all of us.

Now that we are all back and survived the craziness of the Con (150,000 people in attendance total!) it is time for me to continue scoring this wonderful project.  I came up with a theme for Darren Jacobs’ character, Doug Jones’ and Walter Koenig’s as well.

I can’t wait share more as I go, for now enjoy these few screenshots! 🙂
